Vetting Beyond the Background Check

Formal screening includes criminal and registry searches, work authorization review, reference validation, role related skills testing and language evaluation when relevant, as well as additional security procedures upon request. The process looks beyond experience to assess communication, judgment, discretion, and readiness for the role.

Extended Placement Support
We provide replacement candidate options within the first six months following hire if things don’t work out, giving clients a longer support window than the standard ninety day period offered by many agencies. Clients also have an open door for check ins throughout the life of the placement, so questions, adjustments, and concerns can be addressed. The goal is to protect the time, cost, and trust invested in the search while supporting the long term success of the working relationship.

How Our Hiring Process Works
When you reach out, you work directly with Masha, the founder of The Anti-Agency.
The process begins with a detailed conversation to understand your needs and what a successful hire looks like for you. To follow, you'll receive our fee agreement. Once you're ready to move forward, an initial retainer is collected to begin the search.
From there, the role is defined and candidates are identified and screened. You'll receive a curated selection in small groups, each chosen for their alignment with the role and your environment. You’re welcome to interview as many candidates as you like, and to schedule trial periods prior to making a decision.
When you're ready to move forward with someone, we assist with structuring the offer and facilitate communication between both parties through to a confirmed start.

Timelines can range from one week to several months, shaped by the client’s preferred pace, role scope, and the availability of suitable candidates. Feasibility around timing, compensation, and expectations is addressed openly and early in the process.

Candidates are most often introduced through referrals, including from prior placements and established industry relationships. Searches draw from private professional communities and select associations connected to private service, administrative, and creative roles.
When appropriate, opportunities are marketed discreetly through a curated selection of publications. Ongoing conversations with new talent allow the pool to remain broad, current, and carefully vetted.

Clients pay employees directly. Payroll is not handled in house. For domestic roles, providers such as Gusto are available, while family offices & larger estates typically manage payroll internally, or through a CPA.
Many of our leading candidates have experience in managing and setting up payroll systems. If this is something you are needing, we are happy to present you with candidates who bring that skillset.

Candidates are assessed with care and industry intelligence informed by years of experience and long standing relationships within private service. The process begins with open and interactive meetings to get a strong intuitive sense of each candidate, prior to beginning the full vetting procedure. Many candidates we present have been observed through industry interaction for years prior to ever being put forward for an opportunity with a hiring party, others we source and meet for the first time just before presentation.
Beyond initial screening, our vetting process reflects a rigorous front to back standard of care. Each candidate we place is evaluated through a comprehensive process that includes:
Screening through nationwide criminal and sex offender registries, covering up to 100 years of records
Verification of legal authorization to work in the United States
Proficiency testing in role specific technologies and systems
Evaluation of language skills when applicable
Comprehensive reference reviews including conversational reference checks and leading technology assisted validation of references
We offer additional securities procedures upon request, provided through partnership with an industry leading securities consultant.
